I need more guidance and feedback on this proposal from people using and knowing Windows.

I don't think changing the format of that data is going to make existing users of this happy. I would prefer to have users opt-in to have spaces treated correctly....

What problem does this fix? People and CI build with cmake on Windows fine already, don't they?
