[Plugin] OKTA SSOT
Summary
This Plugin primary aim is to archive consistent and organized information about our teams from Okta as SSOT. It should retrieve information from Okta endpoints about Users [Groups, List, Active, Provisioned, Staged, Locked]
Project website (if applicable)
TODO
Context
Our squad is composed by 4 developers that will be working actively to archive this goal. Any help and suggestions from experienced in plugin development will be very much appreciated.
Glad to hear! :grin: Will assign this to you
Curious to hear what you think about the relation between this and organizational data in the catalog, that is User and Group entities ingested into the catalog for example through for example https://backstage.io/docs/integrations/ldap/org#using-a-provider-instead-of-a-processor
Is it something we've considered already or a concept you've learned of just now? :grin: It might be be that the most powerful thing here is a mix between the two, a catalog entity provider for ingesting data from Okta, along with a frontend plugin that lets you manage these users. It could also be ofc just one of the two, I'm curious what you think?
Hi Patrik, This new approach sounds interesting, notice that our catalog (to be implemented) will come from github and it might be different from SSOT (Okta) about users/groups. I will look into that documentation and share the idea with the team.
hello, is this in progress? I am looking for an Entity Provider that pulls users and groups from Okta. Seems like we dont have a plugin currently. Is this trying to provide this particular feature?
Hi @naramck yes, it's still in progress. We are getting closer to release a stable version in the next 2 weeks
awesome, thank you @aislandiegofc
Just adding another voice of support for this @aislandiegofc! This would be very helpful for our organization.
Any updates on this? This would solve a major need for us right now, so I'd love to know how it's progressing 😁
+1 that would be very useful for our deployment as well
+1 would also be very useful for us
@ShauliSolomovich There’s a version worth trying probably: https://github.com/RoadieHQ/roadie-backstage-plugins/tree/main/plugins/backend/catalog-backend-module-okta
