Manual cleanup of Service directory
Complete manual review of url's for service providers on page https://backdropcms.org/support/services and https://backdropcms.org/support/services/contractors per https://github.com/backdrop-ops/backdropcms.org/issues/999
- https://qarbono.com/ - does not load for me
- Rakhoi TV - Trực Tiếp Bóng Đá - spam?
- https://linuxstans.com/?s=backdrop - no mentions of Backdrop
- https://sentaidigital.com/ - does not load
UK
Services:
- https://backdropcms.org/organization/cg-webdesign - link to website is dead
Contractors:
- John_B - https://backdropcms.org/account/john_b - no website, Drupal profile has website (https://www.digitpros.com/) but certificate has expired and no mention of Backdrop CMS
Services:
- https://backdropcms.org/organization/hosttor - link to website is dead
Services:
- https://backdropcms.org/organization/brian-goldstein - spam? - linked website appears to be about investing in gold
Services:
- https://backdropcms.org/organization/specbee-consulting - Drupal only services - no Backdrop
Look to be quite a few development Services (Organization profile node type) that only mention Drupal and/or WordPress. Should these be included in the directory?
If these are legit companies maybe they do offer Backdrop, but do not have information about Backdrop sevices on their website?
I think the site you have listed can be removed or unpublished. For now, let's limit removals to:
- dead links
- spam accounts with many unrelated links
- unrelated business sites
- insecure or unmaintained sites
Thanks for advancing this!
Based on feedback I have unpublished:
- https://backdropcms.org/organization/brian-goldstein - unrelated (gold investing)
- https://backdropcms.org/organization/hosttor - dead link
- https://backdropcms.org/organization/cg-webdesign - dead link
- https://backdropcms.org/organization/qarbono - dead/insecure link (NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID)
- https://backdropcms.org/organization/sentai-digital - dead (ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT)
I can't do anything with user accounts as I don't have those permissions, and for now have left sites that don't mention Backdrop CMS as there is not consensus on that strand.
Users that I think fit into this are:
- https://backdropcms.org/account/rakhoitivi - spam
- https://backdropcms.org/account/john_b - no website, but website found through D profile is insecure
Perhaps @bugfolder or @stpaultim could consider these users.
Perhaps @bugfolder or @stpaultim could consider these users.
First one is blocked, and will go away in 2 weeks. Second one looks like a real person's account, so I'm not blocking them for now. They're signed up for security update notifications; maybe they just want to keep tabs on things, which is a legit use case.

@bugfolder - the primary check here is not on accounts per se but accounts listed as contractors "Available for Hire". Deselecting that checkbox would allow all notification and other actions to continue but would remove an entry that appears to be out of date. Alternatively, perhaps an admin could contact them and ask whether they still intend to be "Available for Hire"?
I don't feel personally admin-enough to make that contact/query, but if you'd like to, I can provide the contact email address.
I don't see that person showing up in the contractor listing (when I filter to UK).
Interesting. I see that listing both logged in and logged out:
Unless logged in (when the contact screen appears) there is no way to contact John

Ah, I was looking on the Service Providers page:
https://backdropcms.org/support/services
Which is the page linked from the checkbox description on the account edit page:
So perhaps that description text needs to be changed to link to the Contractors page.
I think that url should be a required field for contractors and for companies (and should be https)
