Get knowledge dump from Tom Seago & Josh Durbin on how networks/VLANs are set up

And also ask about future plans that we may have not gotten to last year. From our discussions it appear, for example, that VLANs were planned but never implemented, so everything is on the same network. Probably can do better here.

@joshdurbin @tomseago - would you be willing to hop on a short call about this so we can document this for great justice? Ping me on slack or comment here and we'll schedule it asap.

Indeed. Inventory is:

  • 5x Unifi AC Mesh Access Points (POE, 2 sheep, 1 camp, 2 unused)
  • 4x 48 port managed Unifi Switches (all sheep)
  • 2x Cloud Keys (POE 1 camp, 1 sheep)
  • 2x 16 Port 150 Watt POE Switches (1 camp, 1 sheep)
  • 2x Pro Security Gateways (1 camp, 1 sheep, required for routing across VLANs)
  • 1x Nanobeam (POE connection from camp to center camp / BM org, not managed by the Unifi SDN)
  • 2x Bullet (POE 1 sheep, 1 camp, not managed by the Unifi SDN)
  • 2x Bullet Antenna (1 sheep, 1 camp)

There isn't much to go over in terms of networking. Everything should probably be reset and configured and separated. Unfortunately, this was the first time I was expose to Unifi and had many problems with routing / VLANs, etc... which is why we ran all this equipment in "linksys mode".

The cloudkeys are required to manage and store stats for all the devices.

Oh, one thing not in the drawing, another AP connected to the 16 port POE switch for camp. The other two AP weren't in use.

@tomseago can you think of anything I've left out?
