Installation Issues
Hi, I just can't figure it out, I'm still quite a noob regarding CLI
When I try installing via git, I get this:
git clone https://github.com/b-ryan/powerline-shell
cd powerline-shell
python setup.py install
fatal: destination path 'powerline-shell' already exists and is not an empty directory.
running install
error: can't create or remove files in install directory
The following error occurred while trying to add or remove files in the
installation directory:
[Errno 13] Permission denied: '/Library/Python/2.7/site-packages/test-easy-install-43706.write-test'
The installation directory you specified (via --install-dir, --prefix, or
the distutils default setting) was:
/Library/Python/2.7/site-packages/
Perhaps your account does not have write access to this directory? If the
installation directory is a system-owned directory, you may need to sign in
as the administrator or "root" account. If you do not have administrative
access to this machine, you may wish to choose a different installation
directory, preferably one that is listed in your PYTHONPATH environment
variable.
For information on other options, you may wish to consult the
documentation at:
https://setuptools.readthedocs.io/en/latest/easy_install.html
Please make the appropriate changes for your system and try again.
when I try installing via pip install powerline-shell
, I get this:
zsh: command not found: pip
Don't know what to make of this :/
fwiw, I have python 2.7, 3.9 and 3.10 on my mac
just set write permission for needed directory. For second? just type in google "macos how to install pip"
Sorry I didn't help on this. If you still have any issues I am happy to help. Just re-open.
