Can't clear positional highlight

If I make a visual selection then do :Hi +x%, I get a highlight; if I then re-select the same area and do :Hi -x, the highlight does not go away. I can, however, clear it with HiDelPos().

Yes, right. Please simply press HiErase key in normal mode on the highlight. This key applies to all types of highlights. The :Hi - command (:h Hi-) also works the same way. Thanks!
