We need a better literate backend for academic writing
We at least need:
- math formula
- bibliography
- something like
\section
,\subsection
and\ref
,\cref
- no layout-based grammar
- (?) integrate with JavaScript+CSS for IDE features in the rendered page
There are some candidates:
- BTeX: https://www.bananaspace.org/wiki/%E5%B8%AE%E5%8A%A9:%E7%BC%96%E8%BE%91%E9%A1%B5%E9%9D%A2
- Typst: https://typst.app/docs/tutorial/writing-in-typst/ , but it uses a different syntax for math
You don't need \section
, you need \label
.
Is it possible to support multiple literate backends?
