Northstar vs. Cloudscape

Open MarrickLip opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Hey,

I've been loving* using Northstar for a couple of my personal projects but noticed that AWS has recently released Cloudscape which seems to be in a similar vein.

I just wanted to checkin to see if Cloudscape replaces Northstar or if Northstar will continue to be updated?

Thanks,

Marrick

* I'm pretty obsessive about design so haven't a library that basically doesn't support styling has been an amazing way to force me to actually focus on functionality 😎

Hi @MarrickLip,

Thank you for your support.

Cloudscape Design System is a solution for building intuitive user experiences. It offers guidelines to create web applications, along with the design resources and front-end components to streamline implementation. While NorthStar is a design system to rapidly prototype user experiences, Cloudscape is a design system that is intended for use in production environments, beyond the prototypal phase.

NorthStar team is working on the NorthStar version 2 based on Cloudscape components and will provide users with enhanced components like FormRenderer.
