Facebook Browser Compatibility Chime SDK Javascript

Open JVanopbroeke opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

Hi,

Can anyone tells me how is chime sdk javascript supported with a Facebook browser on Android / iOs?

I'm facing some video display issues but i have no info about a minimum compatible version in the requirements

I'm using the "amazon-chime-sdk-js 2.16.1" with Angular 11

Thanks

@JVanopbroeke Can you please explain in more detail what the video issues you are having? Also, providing browser logs (please provide the full browser logs) - would be helpful as well. Perhaps you may want to try on a regular webview on Android/iOS to see if the same issue persists

Hello @michhyun1

I have a preview room in wich i have no devices detection when i use the facebook browser. No camera, no microphone are detected

Everything work fine in all the others tested browsers (chrome, firefox, samsung browser)

Device: Samsung Galaxy S21 5G OS: Android 11

Scenario: Link to the meeting followed from Facebook Messenger App version 328.2.0.18.118

Extra info: my team mate has tested the same scenario using an iPhone 11 and has detected a chime internal error while devices detection

Logger: 2021-09-08T13:03:07.714Z [WARN] MyLogger - this browser is not currently supported. Stability may suffer. Supported browsers are: Google Chrome 78+, Microsoft Edge 79+, Electron 7+, Mozilla Firefox 60+, Safari iOS 12+, Safari 12+, Opera 66+, Samsung Internet 12+, Chrome iOS 86+, Firefox iOS 23+, WKWebView iOS 605+, Chrome WebView 92+.

Facebook Browser do not request for permission in my case (Android) For my team mate he can enter the meeting (iOS) then he has the following error Error: DataCloneError: The object can not be cloned.. He can see his local tile but nobody else

I guess this answer my question but do you plan to work on a compatibility? It's a real problem for our company

@JVanopbroeke thanks for reaching out - we don't support that browser yet, as you can see. I think WebRTC is probably already supported on that browser, but we just don't support it yet. I'll add a feature request and we'll begin to track this feature request on our side. Thanks a lot.
