Trying to start with this template

I am new to AWS and came across this quick start which is exactly what I need to get better real time metrics for my call center. I tried to run it in us-east region and it failed. Tried to modify the template and it failed in us-west-2. What I really need is to use it in us-west-2. Can you provide any guidance on how I can get this to work?
