console UI does not work well on Cygwin and git-bash

If you start the demo with java -jar build\lib\consoleui-all-*.jar there are problems on Cygwin and git-bash. On Win7 the first input prompt appears, but after pressing ENTER, the program freezes. Pressing Ctrl-C stops the VM.
