Page turning glitch

Open T50-La opened this issue 9 months ago • 5 comments

Hentoid v1.20.10 (774)

Motorola Edge Plus / Android-12

  1. (When inside the reader) Double tap to zoom in on a page

  2. The user fling so that he position himself ready to turn page on the left side of the screen

  3. The user act as if he were about to turn page (not through fling) but changes his mind and stop the action before the whole page was turned

  4. On the page mentioned in the first step, he should now be able to freely move around with the glitch

Notes:

If the user decide not to double tap the screen at step one but instead to zoom just a little bit, that will also work, the glitch should still appear. Instead of flinging himself to the left at step two it should also work to simply swipe himself over there.

When the glitch is active the user can choose to dismiss the new page by flinging himself to the opposite side of the screen, two times. One time while not positioned there and the other while already there. It won't work to push it into where it came from, that will at most exit the current book.

To show the new page after having activated the glitch the user can; pull the rest of it over the first page or zoom out the same.

Reflection: Might be a bit late for this reflection as I don't know how far the new page info/reader function has come in development but could this glitch somehow be related to the page info popup one, reported back in the day? As that glitch also got influenced by zoom level.

Thanks for your report. That one's an old known problem that nobody cared to report until now.

The origin of this issue is a rule we introduced regarding page snapping that's disabled when zooming is on. Maybe part of the solution is allowing overscroll when zooming (#1179) instead of turning the page.

I'm pretty sure both issues are independent

If I remember correctly, this issue occurs to me after the update using a new image library last year. While in earlier versions, zoomed page would stop scrolling at page border and an extra swipe can turn to next page, the current version would show the weird arrangement below and zoom level cannot be reset without reopening the book.

I thought this happens to me only because I expected many read from their phones, and should have zoomed and turned some pages to encounter this, but no one reported AFAIK.

In the screenshot below, the zoomed page on the left is scrolled a bit to its left side while the reader keeps displaying both pages. Image

Does that still happen? We've worked on swiping issues on the reader during summer.

Yes, it still happens.

I can still turn pages half way through and it stays there. Image

I can still enlarge one page, and make a brief swipe to the page edge, and swipe a little more to show a bit of the next page and it stays there after releasing finger. The enlarged page can then be swiped to move around that page while keeping the page transition state. (I moved to the left a bit for the enlarged page below for illustration.) Image

Nevertheless, from my experience, I feel that this has been improved than it first appeared, so thank you for the work!

extra information : when "page turning by swipe" is disabled, when the glitch is activated then the user can't return to normal swiping and will be locked to fling by swipe
