Repository deprecation and eventual archival
This repository currently has no maintainers with write access. The AutoPkg org admins are looking to either find a maintainer to take over the repo and update its recipes, or we'll begin the process of deprecating and archiving this repo.
I'll start by pinging the most active contributors to this repo, in case any of you are interested in taking ownership (or if you already have a repo of your own, adopting this repos' recipes into yours): @pierrenicolasr @stijnvanschoonbeek @Maarten-Wijnants @seansgm
I'll also ping those who have FileWave-related recipes elsewhere, in case any of you are interested in the same. @andredb90 @gilbertpalau @peshay @rderewianko
If nobody expresses interest in taking some or all of the recipes in this repo by February 1, 2025, I'll begin the process of deprecating all its recipes and archiving the repo.
In addition to the recipes in this repo, we'd be interested in somebody taking over any processors that may still be in use by the community (FileWaveImporter.py and FWTool.py). If these are still working, they're probably more important to maintain than the recipes themselves.
I don't use filewave and can deprecate mine if this repo also gets deprecated.
Happy holidays
Hi (and Happy new year!) - the importers should still work, we (FileWave) have made sure the "API" (if we can call it like this) remains backward compatible. Now:
- FileWave has now a different approach to allow mac admins using autopkg together with FileWave (without requiring extra recipes)
- I can maintain current repository - if anyone still has workflow using directly autopkg and FileWave importer, could be useful. I need to consolidate both repos (https://github.com/pierrenicolasr/filewave and this one) - just need to find a bit of time : )
I can confirm that the processors in this repo still work as we actively use them. As long as nothing big changes on the Filewave side, they should indeed keep working.
The recipes itself are very outdated and most probably don't work anymore. We have our own recipes that include some functionality specific for our Filewave set-up, so they aren't really useful for others. But I'd be willing to create some basic recipes to serve as examples of the Filewave importers.
Hi @pierrenicolasr - I've added you as a maintainer on this repo. Feel free to clean up or consolidate as needed.
