Server updates?

I know this project hasn’t been released yet and still needs stuff doing to it, I made the issue about the servers before and inc the set up files.

I recently tried the servers again and same issues, mp match & bots don’t work, user has to set up via private match and run a chain of commands! If attempt via commands or server no bots inc, can’t change map or game mode!

is there away to try the mp server side and get maps to change via server/ map rotation, changeable ganeMode & functioning bots? no rush just wondering

Zombies: it comes up with some script errors, but servers seem to work, level up system works, contracts & map rotation.

Zombies servers been working since first server issue I made, multiplayer has lacked support for a while, would be good to get it a bit further even if basic functions

I appreciate the work, everyone! It would be fantastic to finally have functional Multiplayer with a server browser for IW7. It would mean that every single CoD game before the BO3 era has been finally modernized, and made functional for the foreseeable future. The strength of this community never fails to surprise me. They put in so much work for something they really love. The hope never dies!

Just doing what I can, I’ve played with other mod clients so a lot of the server stuff I’ve done for iw7 is from previous ones. So was kinda lucky to get zombies working.

mp is a little harder, once we can have like map rotation, game modes via commands we could use a lua script like other mod clients and have functional mp, not sure if the player level saves tho?

however zombies side of things: I used the no-steam argument as

  1. steam causes input lag/ delay at times. And 2) I only have 1x steam account with infinite warfare.

from my trial, I had multiple pc’s (2) join a zombie match, first time it crashed on one Pc but rejoined and it worked, map rotation worked just fine, and contracts worked also.

I use playnite (game launcher) but have set up a play action to launch server, then another that uses iw7-mod.exe -no-steam -cpMode +connect 127.0.0.1:127016

What this does is launch iw7 mod in zombie mode & connect to system local connection. Meaning it will always connect to your server as long as you host your own server. Perk to this is you could use like a steam deck and still level up against bots without a connection at all

Well I decided to try out IW7 after quite a number of months and some of these issues has been fixed, or at least somewhat for mp. Can't really speak about zombies as I have no interest whatsoever in zombies.

Things that don't work:

  1. Map rotation
  2. With domination mode, as soon as the sides swop, the player is removed from his team. There is no way to join your time, unless you disconnect and reconnect
  3. There is NO way to choose your team - this issue has been on-going for more than a year, but from what I recall it can be quite a bitch to solve
  4. Server browser doesn't show any servers (not even my own) - but I suppose its not sending/receiving any heartbeats at this stage in development
  5. Can't set the server name at all

Things that do work:

  1. Setting the gametype with g_gametype in server console at least forces the server to use that specific mode (might require a map_restart to get the new mode working).
  2. Bots auto join the server without any issues
  3. Ranking vs bots - you earn XP like a champ
  4. Can set party_maxplayers to 16, then at least you can have 8 vs 8 matches instead of the normal 6 vs 6. Seeing that playlists are removed, there was a ground war one that I recall that allowed you to do 9 vs 9, but yet to try this out with party_maxplayers set to 18 as the default value only allows a maximum of up to 16.
  5. Player XP is retained
  6. Challenges work
  7. Unlocks / progression is tracked correctly

That's about it for now - I didn't really test it over 2 PC's via LAN, just on my primary gaming PC. If get time, I'll do some more tests, especially regarding the map rotation and player team selection if more than one user joins the server.

Have to say the bots of IW are really smart and put up a decent challenge if you decide to up the difficulty level, Anyhow that's all from me for now :)
