Install fails with Mac Haskell 7.10.2-a

After installing the Haskell 7.10.2-a package from haskell.org and running cabal update and cabal install gcc-mod there are a lot of failed builds ending in the line:

ExitFailure 1 void-0.7.1 depends on semigroups-0.17.0.1 which failed to install.
