How should we implement groups in The atPlatform?

There have been a number of requests for supporting a "group" capability for the @ platform. This issue seeks to gather needs and ideas for what capabilities we should provide.

The desired outcome is a definition of the capabilities we need to satisfy that we can architect and implement once agreed.

One alternative approach is to leave it to individual app developers to implement as they see fit and look for a pattern that could be migrated into the platform.
