Suggestion: Sort or Filter themes by background color

Open quartzMrJenkins73 opened this issue 4 years ago • 1 comments

A feature I'd use a lot would be if I see themes with similar background colors together. Raspberry, Purple Rain, Ubuntu are all themes with Purple type backgrounds, but I have to view them all to know that.

Sorting by the Hex code could do possibly do this. Perhaps a search or filter option would work well.

Hi @quartzMrJenkins73 , thanks for your suggestion!

I think that sounds a fun idea. Certainly up for giving it a go.

I would imagine it working well as a sorting option. So instead of the list sorting alphabetically, it would sort dark > light. It already uses a package called get-contrast to decide whether a theme is light or dark so could probably use that again but produce much smaller groups of similarly coloured backgrounds.

Not totally sure about UI, but I guess it would be an additional toggle to Dark/Light (called range/spectrum?). If selected it would list all the themes in the select input, just sorted from dark to light instead of alphabetically.

Sounds like fun to add so I might take a go, but if you or someone else wants to, feel free!

Cheers again
