Show deprecated/deleted packages

Discussion: Notify deprecated/deleted packages

Depercated or deleted packages aren't updated anymore and may cause issues in newer versions of Atom. (See the discussion for the backstory)

These could be shown in the "Deprecated Packages"-Section of the package list. However, the problem is to identify such packages. In the discussion, there are some ideas:

  • Drop an autogenerated file file into the package (eg. install-info) which contains simple info about the mechanism used for the installation (eg. apm). If it doesn't exist, then handle it specially.
  • When checking for updates and if they don't exist, then just display them on that page
    • Show an info message like "Checking for updates for this package failed as it has been unlisted"
