Specutils doesn't accept JWST x1d format containing the pixel value vs. wavelength
1- I have -x1d.fits format data as for a spectrum that I want to importing in Specutils. But unfortunately, it contains Pixel valus (DS/s) versus wavelength values. Specutils doesn't know the unit of DS/s( units of count rate), so I have to convert it to surface brightness(MJy/sr). I don't know how can I do it with the photom step( https://jwst-pipeline.readthedocs.io/en/latest/api/jwst.photom.PhotomStep.html).
2- How can I access JWST X1d files through MAST? There are rate fits, x1dints, ratints, calints, cal, but I didn't find other formats such as x1d, s2d,... (for NIRSpec tool)
Maybe I can find x1d in form of surface brightness versus wavelength. I will appreciate it if you would guide me.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. For 1, what is the error trace that you encounter when trying to load this data? I know we handle unitless/pixels for the unit, but maybe we need an extra case for this type of count.
For 2, you're probably best off contacting the MAST help desk at https://stsci.service-now.com/mast. It looks like you're only finding the level one files for that observation - I would think that there would be level 2/3 but they can help you more for your specific observation.
close?
