Time scales and reference systems chapter

Open jorgepiloto opened this issue 5 years ago • 0 comments

Time scales is a very important topic that is not covered on many astrodynamics or orbital mechanics books. I would like to include this after the introductory chapter #1. Following models should be covered:

  • Time scales
  • [ ] Universal time
  • [ ] Julian Date
  • [ ] Sidereal Time
  • [ ] Atomic Time
  • [ ] Dynamical Time
  • Reference systems
  • [ ] Celestial Equatorial Systems
  • [ ] Terrestrial Equatorial Systems
  • [ ] Celestial Ecliptic Systems

Some algorithms may be included in this chapter together with astropy and poliastro examples if required.

A good reference book for this which includes beautiful drawings is:

  • Methods of orbit determination for the micro-computer, Dan Boulet
