Support clear cache when using `uv`

Open nrbnlulu opened this issue 1 year ago • 7 comments

Discussed in https://github.com/astral-sh/rye/discussions/990

Originally posted by nrbnlulu April 3, 2024 I figure that rye uses some global package cache. If I accidentally modify some package sources I would like to distinct the cache is it possible?

What are you trying to do with the cache? Clear it? Use a custom location?

Clear it?

Yes, sorry for the misleading header.

Generally it is useful if for some reason you edited the package and you want to reinstall it.

Willing to help on this one if you'd have time to write some minor guidelines...

I think this would be quite useful, at least an option to clear the cache completely, or ideally propagate the package-specific refresh flags from uv.

FWIW I moved to uv which has quite the same if not better dev-ex.

Also in terms of project management? For anyone interested, here is a comment from the team about rye vs uv: https://github.com/astral-sh/rye/discussions/1164
