Files replaced when type: attachinary not used

I'm using simple_form and I've included attachinary. I don't want to use the attachinary js, so I've set my inputs as: :file, but when I add new photos for upload and hit submit, all the old photos are deleted and only the ones I just added are kept. How can I make the upload additive unless I specifically click remove on an image?
