Feature Request - VS Code Support
Any thought to creating a VS Code plugin to do this also.
Two GUIs one library to do the work?
The CLI works with VSCode. There's no plans to build a UI for VSCode at this stage. But it's a good idea. Thanks.
@justcla where can I find the CLI? It's not already in my PATH.
~Wiki is unhelpful too.~ https://github.com/aspnet/LibraryManager/wiki/How-to-use-LibMan-CLI#acquire-the-global-tool
This page was helpful https://github.com/aspnet/LibraryManager/wiki/Using-LibMan-CLI
@justcla (Beforehand: I am not a CLI person) The integration of libman in VS is super. It would be great for those cases where you prefer to use VS Code instead of VS2019 to also be able to have intellisense when adding libraries. Especially for cherry-picking files as stated in #398 which is cumbersome.
Well, it's probably worth noting that this repo is maintained by the Visual Studio team, which is a very separate entity to VSCode. The VS team don't build features for VSCode. I would recommend trying to reach out to a VSCode support group or forum.
I'm glad you like the VS integrated UX. Nice to know it's helping. ☺️
This issue is still open for a reason 😉 I too would like something in the VS Code space to better support the libman user experience. While I doubt we'd have a full wizard like in the VS IDE, getting at least Intellisense support for packages and files seems like a big productivity boost, and it ought to align with some work we're planning up ahead in several months. I don't want to get hopes up as to a release date (because it's not confirmed yet), but I am keeping this in mind and advocating for it in our long-term planning meetings.
Bravo! Nice one Jimmy. ☺️
Thanks for the comments @justcla , it’s good to see you here. FYI I’m working in this area now.
Nice! Well, keep up the good work! And don't forget the keyboard shortcuts and accelerators! 🤷
