"Format Error" after uploading songs to Hi-MD and recording through the recorder itself afterwards
I stumbled across a weird bug when using my Sony MZ-RH910 with electronwmd:
After uploading loads of atrac3plus songs in Hi-MD mode, everything is alright. The recorder can play the disk just fine. But as soon as i start recording from the line input/optical it seems like something gets horrible messed up. After writing TOC everything remains fine, until the device reloads TOC. It ends up with beeps and the error message "Format Error" and prompts me to re-format the disk. I confirmed this multiple times with two seperate MZ-RH910. After reformating the disk, analog/optical recording works as expected again. But as soon as I use electronwmd, it eventually fails. After this has happened, sometimes electronwmd is still able to connect and read the contents. Although downloading/uploading/deleting errors out.
I haven´t found a way to possibly dump the TOC for investigation.
@multiwirth Thank you for reporting this issue. Can you check a few things? First of all, please let me know if the same problems happen if you use the testing version available here. If that problem still occurs there, I will try to reproduce it and get a TOC dump that way.
Hi there, i was able to reproduce the issue with the linked version aswell. Let me know if there´s anything else i can help you with.
I'll try to replicate it and see what goes wrong. Thank you for reporting this problem.
Hello - I also have an MZ-RH910 I was trying with this software a couple of nights ago and believe I experienced the same glitch:
After cleaning up an older disc I had (fixed some titles and deleted some A3 tracks) I tried recording onto the same disc directly a few minutes later. For me, the disc glitched out immediately after the recording - I was unable to look at the index and navigate the menu after stopping the recording. After ejecting and reloading the disc it showed as index invalid and I wasn't able to load it in PC-MD mode with ElectronWMD either. After this I reformatted the disc and made a fresh recording - I then opened it with ElectronWMD and renamed the track. I then recorded another track with no problems, so I wonder if the issue was with deleting tracks?
Knowing about this glitch is enough for me, though. I am super happy I can finally extract HiMD recordings directly to my computer which was only allowed with NetMD recorders back in the day - huzzah!
I would be happy to test any future versions addressing this issue.
It's really weird. I've been trying hopelessly to replicate this glitch, and genuinely can't. I will try deleting tracks now, maybe that will trigger it...
