https://github.com/asdf-vm/asdf/pull/1546 is a very naive implementation (is WIP and am more than happy to change) that simply installs, even if the install directory currently exists.
Hopefully https://github.com/jduff/tmdb_party/pull/10 will resolve the problem :)
