Create a showcase page

Open mojavelinux opened this issue 11 years ago • 5 comments

The showcase page should highlight places where Asciidoctor is used, projects that build on it and projects that integration with it.

Examples include:

  • github.com
  • Awestruct
  • Doctorpad / DoctorFX
  • sandoc
  • etc.

We should also add a testimonials page. If that should be a different page than this one, split that off into another issue (best not to bundle issues).

I think we can start cataloging the uses of Asciidoctor here that we want to include in the showcase.

  • Groovy (https://github.com/groovy/groovy-core/tree/master/src/spec/doc)
  • Spring XD (https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-xd/wiki/Technical-Documentation)
  • OpenShift Origin (https://github.com/openshift/origin-server/tree/master/documentation)
  • DocGist (https://github.com/nawroth/docgist)
  • GraphGist (https://github.com/neo4j-contrib/graphgist)
  • Granite DS (https://github.com/graniteds/graniteds/tree/master/docs/reference)
  • Gerrit (https://gerrit.googlesource.com/gerrit/+/master/Documentation/)
  • CRaSH (https://github.com/crashub/crash/tree/master/doc)
  • RichFaces (https://github.com/richfaces/richfaces-docs)
  • Thucydides (https://github.com/thucydides-webtests/thucydides/blob/master/thucydides-core/src/main/java/net/thucydides/core/reports/renderer/AsciidocMarkupRenderer.java)
  • Rewrite (https://github.com/ocpsoft/rewrite/tree/master/documentation/src/main/asciidoc)

We can also document uses of AsciiDoc that aren't yet using Asciidoctor...because they could be using Asciidoctor.

HupPress (https://hubpress.io) AsciiDocFX (https://asciidocfx.com) :+1:

Where should this be created/displayed?

I think this issue is being confused between uses of AsciiDoc/Asciidoctor and tools for Asciidoctor. They should be separate. Some of the entries here are actually relevant for the Who's Using Asciidoctor page. (see #270).

I think what we want this page to be is a teaser with links to pages that focus on each aspect (usage, integration, etc). The point is, Asciidoctor is being used in a lot of places in a lot of different ways and we want to showcase that as a way to promote its success and instill confidence in people who are exploring it.

But I still say that we need to get to the question that this page is trying to address. What question does it answer?
