Better syntax for line break / new line

Open victorel-petrovich opened this issue 9 years ago • 5 comments

Hi,

for line break (new line) command inside the same paragraph, one currently has to put + at the end of the current line. Downsides:

  1. One sometimes uses this + as for addition, without always creating a special latex or asciimath environment for that. Ex: "I bought 2kg apples + 3kg pears yesterday". The + can happen at end of line.
  2. This + confuses beginners who read the asciidoc source , mistaking with mathematical addition.

Suggestion: why don't we use \n, as this is known in computer world as new line marker. And it takes same number (2) of keyboard hits as for + (shift-plus_key).

Hi Victor,

Good point. But rather than using \n at the end of the line, why not just \, as this is more convenient to read (less characters) and also known in some properties formats (e.g. Java Properties).

@sdaschner I have nothing against that.
