Dead keys sometimes non-functioning (macOS, int'l keyboard)

macOS Sonoma 14.4.1. AsciidocFX 1.8.9 with international keyboard: typing the back-tick on my Swiss German keyboard is a dead key that must be followed with the space key. Sometimes the dead key is not recognized anymore making it impossible to type the back-tick. Quitting and restarting AsciidocFX fixes this. Small but annoying issue.
