Open RobertPaauw opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

The windows installer gives a popup that the software may not be safe to install. The installer will run when clicking "run anyway", but should not be required. AsciiDocFX install warning

Found on: Windows 10 64bit, OS build 19044.2006. AsciiDocFX 1.8.0 from "AsciidocFX_Windows.exe" on the Github release page.

Eventhough it was to run anyway, the new version has been signed for windows and should not warn anymore. Please check https://github.com/asciidocfx/AsciidocFX/releases/tag/v1.8.3

Thanks for looking into it. Unfortunately, Windows Defender still blocks it by default. It does, however list you as publisher.

Hi @RobertPaauw do you get the same warning for https://github.com/asciidocfx/AsciidocFX/releases/download/v1.8.3/AsciidocFX_Windows.zip ?

No, that works without triggering Windows Defender.

As I read it may take some time that Microsoft Defender recognizes code signing certificates safe. I also submitted the installer to Microsoft for the false alarm. Let’s see how it goes, but you can just click run anyway until it is resolved.
