im getting the same problem on my pi and my tv. since i got an ambilight on my pi i can see thet the ambilight is working like the episode is played so it seems for me to not work over hdmi? also my tv showes "no source" after some seconds

same problem here, Kodi v18 on RPi, newest netflix addon.

"Family Guy" plays without problems, If i try to start "Bodyguard" I see a black screen, no sound, Ambilight is working & my TV says "unsupported signal"

Cant find anything reliable in logs ..

follow up:

Go into Netflix addon-settings and select inputstream options Tick "override HDCP Status" and "ignore resolution" - one of that options solved the problem for me. I guess its the resolution thing, as my TV said "not supported signal"

Sorry for posting one more time, but I guess I found the culprit...

Steps to reproduce: Inputstream: Manual Stream Selection

  1. Choose first episode of a tv show
  2. It will work, with the lowest resolution available
  3. Go to Video Settings, select another videostream resolution
  4. It will work, UNTIL you select something equal, or more then 1280x720
  5. After switching to 1280x or more, I get the blank screen + no sound + not supported signal 6)If i try to play the selected episode again, i get the blank screen again (I guess it saves the selected videostream I set before)
  6. Go to the next episode,
  7. works again with lowest resolution

It has something to do with resolution - every single one lower than 1280x is working fine..

@lybserv This has to do with the DRM and Netflix's recent changes to the codecs/profiles. Haven't figured out how to solve this yet though, sorry.

for me i also needed to change both "max resolution....." to 720 and that did the trick

the screen is just "flickering" between black and the episode when i pause it, i also get an "no signal" from my TV but when i resume the episode everything is ok again

I still got the same error on my RPI 2. The solutions above though didn't help in my case. Updated everything to latest versions (widevine, Netflix, Kodi Milhouse)

The original bug report states that Kodi 17 is used, as stated in the README (and in various other closed issues) the plugin doesn't work with Kodi 17, only Kodi 18.

Well, I am using Kodi 18. The most current Milhouse version. And I am having the exact same issues.

I managed to get it working somehow. I didn't get the fact that I had to manually select a lower resolution while playing the video. Below 720 works fine.

I have the same error. Just 640p works for me.

Edit: I use Ambilight with Hyperion. The App works fine, if I stop the Hyperion Service.

Thanks, this worked for me. But you need to restart the Android TV Box.

Not working for me with LibreELEC 9.2.3. on a RPi 3. The screen keeps going blank, even with "override HDCP Status" and "ignore resolution" checked and very low resolution.

Is there something to be said about what caused the issue. Because I am having this now and don't know how to handle it. Some shows work, others don't. I am on RPi4, Libreelec, Kodi 18, latest Widevine and Netflix Addon.
