Checksum verification
Most distro package managers implement checksum/signature verification of some sort. This package manager seems similar to the AUR on Arch Linux, which requires that source archives pass a checksum verification process. This way, download integrity could be verified.
It doesn't seem similar to Homebrew on OS X??
Along with this it might be a natural time to implement caching downloaded files (if only for ease of development).
I'm not especially interested in implementing this right now (gotta do 381) but feel free to take a shot at it if you want to.
I don't use OS X, so the homebrew comparison is slightly lost on me, my apologies.
I might take a stab at this in a bit.
