Non-existent peers in DHT

Open vmtest439 opened this issue 9 months ago • 2 comments

Hello, I noticed that sometimes non-existent IPs and ports end up in the peer list in DHT. How can this happen? Is it possible to do this using libtorrent?

uTorrent has that option to set any text phrase as IP/Hostname to report to tracker.

What do you mean by "non-existent" IPs? Do you mean invalid IP addresses? If the DHT node runs on the same machine as a node, it's possible to get a 127.0.0.1 IP address from it. I don't believe libtorrent would make that mistake though. If you run on the same local network, you may also end up with a local address in the DHT peer list.

uTorrent has that option to set any text phrase as IP/Hostname to report to tracker.

The DHT doesn't have that option though.
