Unfortunately I found an other bug in atap_cli introduced in the last versions. It was hidden. There was a floating variable in the 3th level of star detection (of 4) which was overlooked. It only showed up in specific cases of star population density. Replace astap_cli by version 2025.10.11:

Small question - gradient removal is now automatic and on by default or I need to pass some flags?

Background equalizing is now fully automatic. There is no option anymore.

There are four levels of star detection. The last level is executed if there are not enough stars detected in the previous levels. In this last phase the image is divided in something like 10x16 sections and for each section the background is measured. This makes gradient equalizing unnecessary.
