Android App silently closes when changing rotation/orientation.

When rotating from either horizontal or vertical screen orientation on my device the app silently minimizes but does not crash. In fact, if I rotate my device to the orientation I would like after it closes, and either, click the icon, or hold home to see running applications and resume, it changes to the correct orientation. I'm able to initially launch it with either a horizontal or a vertical orientation without issue, it's only when switching between the two the application will minimize.
