We spoke about this a bit already. My suggestion would be to use some test framework (mocha + chai/expect.js is my personally preference) and make it dead simple to test/simulate changes.

I would like to work on this before other changes so we can make changes with more confidence in bot.io.

this is in the end of August -> September time-frame ( when I am a little less crazy busy ) I really want this but I am very strapped for time right now =(
