tab/enter behaviour within align environment

Open mscott99 opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

The “tab” behaviour is conflicted within “align”: to insert a & or to get out of an bracket environment. My preferred default would be to exit an environment whenever within brackets, since I rarely want to insert a “&” when within a bracket environment.

Thank you,

Matthew

There doesn't appear to be any conflict on my machine; when inside an align environment, the tabout behaviour is given priority over the insertion of "&".

Can you show an example / demonstration video where this fails?

Oh okay. I remember seeing it on my machine; if I see it again I will report the specific configuration. I’ll close this for now and reopen if I get this case again.

Ah nevermind, I see this now when going back to edit an equation that's already been written. Will fix for one of the next releases!

I believe it's still not possible to tab outside of the align environment? Would it be feasible to insert &s with another command than tabs? Maybe a double space for example?

From my experience, the tabout behavior works as wanted. The only case that it don't work as expected is for \mathbf{}. This is due to the snippets not having the tabout behavior specified for some reason. The fix would be change the snippets of \mathbf: from {trigger: "bf", replacement: "\\mathbf{$0}", options: "mA"}, to {trigger: "bf", replacement: "\\mathbf{$0}$1", options: "mA"},

This adds the $1 to specify the tabout position. Can this adjustment be added to the next release as well @artisticat1?
