@aadilayub @RoVlaTi Are you still experiencing this issue? Installing `ubuntu-restricted-extras` also installs `libavcodec-extra` and `libavcodec-extra57`. They might not be automatically installed on removing `ubuntu-restricted-extras`

@JigneshAngadia Can you check if Celluloid plays it? Please also share the codec info for the file you are trying to play in VLC (`Ctrl + J`)

Can someone check if it is still the case with gstreamer. The last reported case was in 2012

@cassidyjames Seems to be working with https://github.com/elementary/videos/pull/153 Tested with some random Romanian subtitles. and manually adding ž,š character in subs. Can someone confirm with the pr.

I just tested with master, can't reproduce the issue there too. Might have been fixed by gstreamer or subtitles of a particular extensions may be the issue. Adding incomplete status...
