Has anyone made progress on this? I just ran into this issue. Doesn't seem like a very difficult PR, happy to do it if nobody has done so yet.

This would be a useful feature if people use a reverse proxy to control access to the docker.sock (for example, with https://github.com/Tecnativa/docker-socket-proxy).
