Unknown character appears when I press shift?

I mean, on my actual keyboard. The little invalid-character box appears.

i don't have much knowledge about HTML but... i see u put two double quotes at line 268:

<div class="location-slider" id="location-slider-northamerica"">

see the difference between the colors at line 260 and 268 it's yellow for the HTML elements and green for the attributes!!!

i've tried ur project and it's cool, thanks ;)
