Add support for views

This can either be implemented in the wrapper or handled upstream or ideally a combination of both.

This should help the integration with other python modules.

@FilipeMaia Waiting on the threading branch to be merged to begin work on this upstream. It helps reduce the number of conflicts and also works nicely with my schedule :)
