Support for viewing the charts by week/month

Currently there is a "view by day" setting. However, I think it would be useful to also provide view-by-week and view-by-month totals.

I am personally more interested in weekly/monthly trends of my websites rather than daily (which can be comparatively noisy because of new articles, social media sharing/popular retweets, etc.) Especially for very low-traffic websites with only a handful of visitors per week, daily totals aren't super helpful.

Maybe it would be good to have a dropdown to switch view-by-day/week/month/year?

Yeah, this makes sense. It's not super-hard to add but requires rewriting a few queries and code paths, and thinking about a few edge cases (e.g. end date being in the middle of the week). I probably won't work on this myself in the near future but I'll happily review patches.

It's been over three years, and I can't recall this has ever come up other than this issue. The amount of effort requires to add this is fairly high – I'd estimate at least a full day of work – and would increase complexity quite a bit, and would require a bunch of special cases.

I'd be okay with that if it's useful for people, but I'm not really seeing a lot of people ask for it, so it doesn't seem worth it.
