Use mainline kernel to support newer devices?

Open adam900710 opened this issue 5 years ago • 5 comments

Hi,

Is it possible to use mainline kernel to support newer devices? IIRC there is project mainline, but still not sure about using upstream kernel directly.

Anyway to use kernels directly from other distro? Just replace the vmlinuz in ESP and add new kernel modules in rootfs?

Thanks.

that would be amazing actually. it might also really help with better crouton support.

Awesome!

If this support can be really added, I'm 100% sure this would be even better than the official chromium os.

Well its proving to be somewhat of a stinker at the moment. I think, unless I have a breakthrough soon, Ill leave this until the next release

Would it be possible to document the kernel version used in the change log, especially for the special builds? (Or if it is already documented somewhere my apologies).

I got myself some notebooks with Jasperlake - and these need 5.11 > kernels.

Many thanks for the continued support.
