Keyword search much less reliable under Sonoma

Open drybx opened this issue 1 year ago • 5 comments

Hi everybody,

I really like this little extension, use it daily and have about 15 search engines set up. Since the Sonoma update however, it seems to be much less reliable. Quite often my input in the adressbar is not resolved but just sent as search query to the standard search engine. So if I type "gi dogs" to search for dogs on Google Images I get a standard Google search for "gi dogs" instead.

The strange thing is, that this issue appears often but not all the time. How can I narrow down on this more?

Thanks, Julius

I am seeing this exact same behavior; it's not "quite often", though, but always. I can no longer just type in my shortcut + space + search term; it always just sends it to Google (my default search engine).

Is there a thought as to what I can try to fix this?

To document my environment:

  • macOS 14.1.1 on Apple Silicon M1 Max
  • Safari Version 17.1 (19616.2.9.11.7)
  • Keyword Search version 2.2 (18)

Clicking the button to open the drop-down menu once may wake it up.

Nope, at least not for me.

IME, disabling the extension then enabling it again makes it seem to work again for a while.

Opening the popup once in each new browser window, or similar, makes it work for me.
