IMX415 (Radxa 4k Camera) not working on Radxa 5B+ (rk3588) with 6.1 vendor kernel in Armbian

Open TheOnlyJoey opened this issue 5 months ago • 7 comments

Could be related to #164, but since this is a slightly different CPU and might be board specific, making a separate issue.

On the Radxa 5B+, I have not been able to get the officially supported Radxa 4k camera to work, regardless of enabling the DTS. I have been able to get this to work on the official Radxa image. It seems that on the official image, you specifically have to choose if you enable it on the cam0 or cam1 port, maybe the autodetection that seems to happen for Armbian is not working correctly? (just speculating).

I am running the latest Armbian with 6.1 vendor kernel (both tried just Bookworm and an upgrade to Trixie, both have identical behavior).

Attached is a dmesg where it attempts to load. v4l is not able to probe anything. Armbian Dmesg

@radxamitchell would it be possible for you to test the 5B+ with IMX419 (Cam 4K) & Radxa Display 8HD on Armbian too? There seems to be an issue there

To check if same issue look on dmesg from errors regarding rkisp_mainpath connection issue , also with media-ctl you should have unconnected nodes between sensor(rkcif) and rkisp

It seems like this is an overall issue with the Radxa DTS's being in a slightly incompatible layout, so most of the 5B+ DTS's don't work a the moment in armbian unfortunately.

Going to test this today regarding Rock5B+: https://github.com/armbian/linux-rockchip/pull/429 In theory it should work with the correct overlay that uses the correct GPIO like in the mentioned PR to supply power
