Chat
There are 3 ways to chat with CodeRabbit:
- Review comments: Directly reply to a review comment made by CodeRabbit. Example:
-
I pushed a fix in commit <commit_id>, please review it. -
Generate unit testing code for this file. -
Open a follow-up GitHub issue for this discussion.
-
- Files and specific lines of code (under the "Files changed" tab): Tag
@coderabbitaiin a new review comment at the desired location with your query. Examples:-
@coderabbitai generate unit testing code for this file. -
@coderabbitai modularize this function.
-
- PR comments: Tag
@coderabbitaiin a new PR comment to ask questions about the PR branch. For the best results, please provide a very specific query, as very limited context is provided in this mode. Examples:-
@coderabbitai gather interesting stats about this repository and render them as a table. Additionally, render a pie chart showing the language distribution in the codebase. -
@coderabbitai read src/utils.ts and generate unit testing code. -
@coderabbitai read the files in the src/scheduler package and generate a class diagram using mermaid and a README in the markdown format. -
@coderabbitai help me debug CodeRabbit configuration file.
-
Note: Be mindful of the bot's finite context window. It's strongly recommended to break down tasks such as reading entire modules into smaller chunks. For a focused discussion, use review comments to chat about specific files and their changes, instead of using the PR comments.

Lets absolutely not merge this rabbit thing, as it is currently under review in the proper PR #8027
Sorry
And lets focus into what Rabbit says - not sure if we can blindly trust - professionally designed docs bits looks correct, but are they?
but are they?
They're not bad, really.
Since it is only generating the docs for one function (that is really used from other functions) the stuff is a bit out of context -- some variables he calls "globals" when they're really in context of another function, not really globals. bash variable scope is very hard subject.
I'd not go adding those blindly, as docstrings tend to fall out of sync with the function they document very quickly, and thus become cruft.
They're not bad
Agree. I use AI daily now, its a great tool, but its not something to use and trust blindly.
the stuff is a bit out of context
Exactly. Understanding context is difficult, for AI (and often for humans too), especially when using bash.
I'd not go adding those blindly
While AI should help reviewing and it does, this part adds strain to human review capacity. IMO its one step forward, two back. For the main documentation https://docs.armbian.com/ is the same - even AI is really good, I had to engage human to put this together. Documentation has greatly improved within past year, sadly not yet in the build framework section. This part require understanding of internals / part of our brain or learning, which takes time.
If anyone can take on real and proper review on AI text inserts - I won't review nor merge, but many people can merge after review is done.
