Another parallel development. @igorpecovnik should all RK3588 devices be moved to the media kernel then? Having multiple families working in parallel with no collaboration is stupid.

And let's be clear, of the direction is to continue with this kernel then we must consolidate everything to it, it can not simply exist as an isolated thing with random boards assigned to it. I can begin porting devices over to it as soon as a decision is made. For RK3588 it is currently the ideal time to decide where it lives.

For legacy kernels common grounds is probably difficult to achieve as it presumable lots of custom changes ?! but we should at least look into this diff and estimate what is the cost of having common sources. I have absolutely no idea ...

Any decisions without extensive research is just like flipping the coin. Which again, we should avoid doing.

Until this decision is made I suggest to merge? Otherwise it will stale a probably just fine board config.
