Is this plugin still supported with the latest changes to Google Analytics?

I know a few months ago Google made some changes to Analytics, specifically how app-based properties work. Looking at the read me it sounds like the app-type property is what is required but there haven't been any commits here since January.

I've tried sending events and screen views to both web properties and app properties but I'm unable to see any real-time stats but I'm not sure if it is a bug in my code or the plugin just being out of date.
