Yes Highchart seems nice but it is not open source... The effort to integrate a new charting tool should not be huge as it concerns mainly the presentation modules...with probably...
Well, it would be mainly in Model View.cshtml where the JavaScript is injected in HTML... If you master the Seal environment, I think the work can be done in 4-8...
yes, the 4.0 is being integrating, it includes plotly charts dn chartJS, hope we got a version in April

No experience with the OpenID protocol, perhaps you can handle it in the Custom Security script. You have a sample of using JWT Token (script of the JWT Security Provider)
Check that your report models do not return a huge amount of data. Normally 10'000 rows is a certain limit, it has no sense to return more data.

To make it work, you need to have a repository folder installed with the related subfolders: Views, Sources, Settings, etc.
