[FR] Client name and department next to project on project list
I would find is useful to have the client's name and department next to the project's name when looking at the list of projects. Something like:
Project Abc (Client Ltd, Architecture) [*************-------] Milestone 1 [****************----] Milestone 2 [****----------------]
or even better (right alignment for progress bars)
Project Abc (Client Ltd, Architecture) [*************-------] Milestone 1 [****************----] Milestone 2 [****----------------]
Another solution
Project Abc [*************-------] (Client Ltd, Architecture) Milestone 1 [****************----] Milestone 2 [****----------------]
Or a more drastic change by organising projects by clients and dpt, but this should be optional because some programme could be cross-functional or cross-company and programme manager should be able to pick what to see in their view.
(-) Client ltd
(-) Architecture
Project Abc [*************-------]
Milestone 1 [****************----]
Milestone 2 [****----------------]
(+) Operations
(+) Customer ltd
(+) Pizza ltd
Programme view example. And there should be presets for the different programmes, just like for task filters
PCIDSS programme Project Abc (Client Ltd, Architecture) [remove] [*************-------] Milestone 1 [****************----] Milestone 2 [****----------------] Project XyZ (Customer Ltd, Acquisitions) [remove] [****************----] Milestone 1 [******************--] Milestone 2 [*******-------------] [Add project to programme]
Is a programme a group of projects just for one user or across the whole system?
It's usually across the whole system, because it's usually within one company, so it's best for all participants to have the same view, but it can be made flexible so that a programme manager can arrange his own view, with his own projects and share that view with some key stakholders. Most project participants will not have access to this view because it's not relevant to them.
Let's say you're upgrading your ERP, it has an impact on multiple department and you create several projects which will implement the changes which will be part of the same programme.
But you could be a project manager in a webdev company and you and your manager would like to have a holistic view of different groups of projects.
(Just edited the last bit because we already have the ungrouped list of all projects)
But even without the programme and re-arrangement parts, I think it would help to have the company name somewhere near the project name.
