Feature Request: Monitor git repo for image update

Hello Guys, You are all doing a great job.

My request is as follows, Image-Updater monitors registry for tag changes. I would like to offer monitoring git repository as well. Assume that a manifest, application or environment repo provides the Source of truth for image version. This can be done with tags and tags prefix like staging-YYYYMMddhhss and the image updater looks at the latest sha or any other option for image update.
